佛罗里达大学Z.Hugh Fan教授做客我校“理学之美”前沿论坛第84讲
7月5日上午,我校“理学之美”前沿论坛第84讲在化生楼212举行,来自佛罗里达大学的Z.Hugh Fan(范仲辉)教授为化生师生带来了题为《Lab on a Chip,Sensors,& their Biomedical Applications》(芯片实验室,传感器,和生物医学上的应用)的精彩报告。
在简要介绍过佛罗里达大学的整体情况后,学术报告正式开始。范仲辉教授以芯片实验室和传感器的概念切入,深入地分析了化学传感器的优缺点,并介绍了芯片实验室的基础和核心技术——微流控技术。在报告中,范仲辉教授介绍了一种基于核酸适配体捕获循环肿瘤细胞(CTC)的微流控装置,通过该装置捕获CTC可获得95%的捕获效率,对监测癌症转移和治疗进程有重要意义。报告会尾声,范仲辉教授就在场师生提出的问题进行了细致解答,并鼓励大家多思考,对科研问题形成自己的看法。
范仲辉教授幽默风趣的言谈、深入浅出的讲解、深厚的理学功底和对前沿领域的准确把握给与会师生留下了深刻印象。 主讲人简介: Dr. Hugh Fan is a University of Florida (UF) Research Foundation Professor in the Departments of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, and Chemistry. Prior to joining UF in 2003, he was a Principal Scientist at ACLARA BioSciences Inc. from 2000 to 2003 and a Member of the Technical Staff at Sarnoff Corp from1995 to 2000. He worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the Ames Laboratory of the US Department of Energy at Iowa State University in 1994. Dr. Fan’s research interests include microfluidics, BioMEMS, flexible/stretchable electronics, sensors, cancer diagnosis and prognosis. He has authored >80 journal articles that have been cited for more than 5000 times. In addition, he edited one book published by Wiley and authored over 45 book chapters and referred proceeding articles. Dr. Fan’s research efforts have been recognized by Fraunhofer-Bessel Award from Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (Germany), E.T.S. Walton Award from Science Foundation Ireland, and Career Award from National Institute of Health (USA). He is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) and an editorial board member of Scientific Reports (Nature Publishing Group) and Microsystems &Nanoengineering (Nature Publishing Group).
